09oct2014 – Olle Johansson at the Open Mind Conference 2014
Olle Johansson is associate professor at the Experimental Dermatology Unit, Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.
He is a leading authority in the field of EMF radiation and health effects. He has also been a professor in basic and clinical neuroscience at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
He has published more than 650 original articles, reviews, book chapters and conference reports within the field of basic and applied neuroscience, dermatoscience and health effects of electromagnetic fields.
His studies have been widely recognised in the media, including newspapers, radio and TV, as well as on the Internet, both nationally and internationally. He has on-going international scientific collaborations with e.g. Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Serbia, Germany, the UK and the USA.
The body of evidence on EMF requires a new approach to protection of public health; the growth and development of the fetus, and of children; and argues for strong preventative actions. These conclusions are built upon prior scientific and public health reports documenting the following:
- 1) Low-intensity (non-thermal) bioeffects and adverse health effects are demonstrated at levels significantly below existing exposure standards.
- 2) ICNIRP and IEEE/FCC public safety limits are inadequate and obsolete with respect to prolonged, low-intensity exposures.
- 3) New, biologically-based public exposure standards are urgently needed to protect public health world-wide.
- 4) It is not in the public interest to wait.
21sep2014 – Olle Johansson is interviewed by AGE OF TRUTH TV presenter Lucas Alexander, in this informative, fascinating in-depth hard-talk interview, filmed at the Open Mind Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark in September 2014
“Nowadays, electrohypersensitivity (EHS) is in Sweden an officially fully recognized functional impairment (i.e., it is not regarded as a disease). Survey studies show that somewhere between 230,000-290,000 Swedish men and women—out of a population of 10,000,000—report a variety of symtoms when being in contact with electromagnetic field sources. To this, one should also add all the current issues regarding the bigger picture: the health effects of electromagnetic fields on the general population, including memory, concentration and learning difficulties, neurological damage and cancer, immune system impairments, fertility issues, as well as impacts on other animals, plants and bacteria.”
Olle Johansson is – or has been – a member of, i.a., The European Neuroscience Association (ENA), The European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR), IBAS Users of Scandinavia (IBUS), The International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), The International Society for Stereology (ISS), The New York Academy of Sciences, The Royal Microscopical Society (RMS), Scandinavian Society for Electron Microscopy (SCANDEM), The Skin Pharmacology Society (SPS), Society for Neuroscience, Svenska Fysiologföreningen, Svenska Intressegruppen för Grafisk Databehandling (SIGRAD), Svenska Läkaresällskapet, and the Svenska Sällskapet för Automatiserad Bildanalys (SSAB).

2014 – Mobilize | Cell Phones & Cancer Documentary
This award-winning, feature-length documentary explores the long-term health effects from cell phone radiation including cancer and infertility. The film examines scientific research, follows state and national legislative efforts, and illuminates the influence that technology companies have on public health. The film was selected as the best documentary film at the California Independent Film Festival.
Mobilize features interviews with scientists, doctors, politicians, cancer patients, and technology experts including interviews with Gavin Newsom, now governor of California, Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, and Harvard Law Professor Lawrence Lessig.
When Gavin Newsom was mayor of San Francisco, he was one of the strongest supporters of a cell phone “right to know” ordinance that the Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted. Once he left the city to become Lt. Governor, the city gave up fighting the CTIA’s Federal lawsuit and retracted the ordinance. In our film, Newsom stated he received substantial “blowback” from the industry. See his interview at 0:04:30 – 0:04:45, 0:6:50 – 0:07:40, and 1:04:30 – 1:05:02.
The documentary was directed by Kevin Kunze and produced by researchers, Devra Davis and Joel Moskowitz, and by Ellie Marks, co-founder of the California Brain Tumor Association.
