Olle Johansson is a former associate professor at the department of neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. His research focuses on the biological effects of electromagnetic fields and the potential consequences of unbridled expansion of global communications networks.
He has been outspoken in his desire to inform the public of the known dangers of electronic devices and wireless technologies, particularly to children, who are more susceptible to the effects.

Talk by Canadian physicist Paul Héroux presented at the 7th World Electrosensitivity Day online conference, June 16-17 2024, for the Italian Association of Chronic and Environmental Intoxication Diseases Social Promotion Association.
Dr Héroux teaches Toxicology and Health Effects of Electromagnetism at McGill University, in Montréal (Québec), and is a Commissioner of the International Commission on the Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields ICBE-EMF .
Dr Héroux was also a member of the New Hampshire Commission on the Environmental and Health Effects of 5G. Its report led to the introduction of the first American bill calling for educating the public on the health risks of wireless radiation, ensuring cell towers are at least 500 meters from homes and schools and replacing Wi-Fi with non wireless technology in schools (“An ACT relative to the health effects of 5G technology”) New Hampshire bipartisan bill on Health Effects of 5G Technology .

On April 15, 2024 a team affiliated with the National Institute for Science, Law and Public presented on the weekly online program held by pro-solar, anti-nuke activist Harvey Wasserman, streamlined online and broadcast on the Pacifica Network and via Progressive Radio Network. The program included Camilla Rees, MBA, Karl Maret, MD, Timothy Schoechle, PhD and Duncan Campbell, Esq. Presentations covered the science on the biological and health effects of electromagnetic fields, unnecessary integration of wireless smart meters with solar installations today, under-recognized capacity constraints with the electricity grid from telecommunications growth and the explosion in AI, and the need for rapid transition to safe, ‘distributed’ renewable energy technologies, including rooftop solar and microgrids.

The acronyms MCS and EHS indicates two controversial diseases: Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity. The former makes patients intolerant to exposure to chemical substances, while the latter to that to electromagnetic fields. What’s more, both diseases sometimes develop together. Remarkably, women account for the 75% of these cases.
Still few countries have taken up independent researches to tackle the diseases. There is still some perplexity among scientists about the physiological nature and the toxic-environmental causes of these diseases. The Italian situation is especially complicated, since institutions still do not acknowledge both diseases and patient’s rights. Patients who can afford it are actually forced to go abroad for treatments which are not allowed in Italy. The “alternative” is to give up active life, which means job and social relations.
Produced by Officinemedia and directed by Alessandro Quadretti, “SENSIBILE” is the first Italian documentary on this topic which tells the stories of sufferers and caregivers – people obliged to reinvent their lives by facing the changes due to the diseases. By keeping rhetoric and simplistic slogans away, this doc aims at highlighting that environmental diseases are of interest to everyone. An unhealthy, aggressive and inhospitable environment will always be a real threat – even to those who are still healthy.
