The other day I found out that someone had uploaded a lecture I gave to my colleagues at NTNU (Telematics Norwegian University of Science and Technology) in 2014, on the website Research Gate.
It was a kind of “farewell lecture” I gave when I had finally decided to quit my 20% position as a university lecturer there.
As you can see from the title, the message to me and my colleagues was,… What we had been doing throughout our professional lives also casted a shadow, which we had not been aware of, and that we should now take into account.
What I remember best was the silence afterwards:
My colleagues were mostly the same age or older than me. They had a professional life behind them with large, and mostly wireless communication systems. It seemed as if they were quite surprised and did not quite know what to think about it.
Could it really be so, that these large wireless systems they had contributed to create, with such enthusiasm, have not only created welfare and growth but are also killing the bees and harming the life on our planet?
This just did not fit in – neither with their own self-understanding nor with their knowledge from physics, which basically says “Radio waves are so fast that their electrical charges can’t pull or push any organic molecules before a charge comes along that pulls in the opposite direction!”
There was not a single question after the presentation, just a depressive silent confusion. Yes, it was almost embarrassing. Then it all dissolved and they went their separate ways.
Since then, I have gained increasingly secure ground under my feet showing that the radio physicists were wrong.
In addition to the higher frequencies which can very well be affecting biology. But smaller wireless communication emitting at lower frequencies? That these frequencies are affecting biology is now undisputed. They just didn’t imagine it could be a problem.
The research findings are dramatic. My sources back in 2014 only made up a little of what already existed, but were still extensive. You may find them on the last foil of my presentation. Much more has been added since then.
I only preserved the English version of my farewell lecture, You may download it here and forward it to who ever you want.
